We worked on this destination wedding planner branding in May 2022 during one of our 2-week branding and website intensives. Darlinghurst Events is a destination wedding planning company owned by Katie Gregory, who comes to the industry with years of experience. Katie needed a new brand and Squarespace website to confidently launch her new brand and start booking dream clients: couples looking for bespoke weddings, elopements, or destination wedding experiences. The intensive was a win-win because Katie could get brand strategy identity done quickly, but the project was a lower cost for her while she was starting her business.

The brand strategy and brand identity design processes are such collaborative opportunities. We loved collaborating with Katie to really bring her branding vision to life.
Brand Strategy was important to Darlinghurst Events, so we kicked the project off with a brand strategy call. We reviewed Darlinghurst Events’ ideal client, brand archetype, positioning in the market, and brand tone. Our brand strategy call ended up being over 2 hours just because Katie and I had so much fun!
During the brand strategy call, we discovered the Darlinghurst Events leans more adventurous compared to other vendors in the Maryland and Washington, D.C. area. At the same time, it was important that potential clients perceive Darlinghurst as professional and trustworthy. We needed to find a way to position Darlinghurst Events as approachable, but still give the brand a luxury feel.
I always recommend getting brand strategy prior to diving in to the brand identity. Because we started that way, the brand identity development was a simpler process. We started with a mood board, which Katie fell in LOVE with.
The colors on the mood board ended up being pretty spot on, but we perfected them before moving on to the logo design.
While we tend to choose custom fonts for client branding projects, it was important for this project that we choose fonts that could easily be accessed in Canva and Squarespace.
After a couple rounds of feedback, we landed on these final primary and secondary logo options. We provided Darlinghurst Events with each logo in several brand colors along with EPS and PNG files. We provided these to all clients who book our branding packages.
Because of the nature of a website intensive, we started from a Squarespace template design and customized it to the Darlinghurst Events brand identity. Squarespace was a good platform choice for Katie so that she could make updates herself as her business inevitably grows. You can view her current website here.
