If you’ve seen our content on Instagram or on our website, you know we love Showit! There are many perks to having your website design on the platform. One of many perks is that there are so many great Showit website designers out there. If you’re overwhelmed and not sure how to choose the right Showit website designer, this is for you.
Full disclosure: here are Emily Foster Creative, we design Showit website templates, semi-custom sites, and Showit custom websites. If you’re interested in working with us, you can reach out and schedule a free discovery call.
However, we believe that you should make the most educated choice for your business’s website. So we’ve put together this list on how to find the right Showit website designer for your website project.
Google, Instagram, and Pinterest are great places to find samples of work you love.
Look for website designers who already have experience with Showit. Most Showit website designers will mention this somewhere on their website or in their portfolio examples. Look for customer reviews and testimonials.
Talk to other business owners you know and ask for recommendations for website designers they have used and had positive experiences with. If you have your heart set on working with Showit, don’t settle for your cousin’s recommendation for someone who dabbles in WordPress. There are plenty of designers who specialize in Showit, at all timelines and budgets.
If you’re a wedding vendor, there are likely lots of your colleagues who have worked with a Showit website designer, so ask around!
Check out the Showit website designer’s portfolio to get a better understanding of their style and capabilities. At Emily Foster Creative, we design in a variety of design styles from playful and colorful to dark and moody to minimalist and clean. However, some website designers like to design in set styles and don’t vary from that style, even if the client requests.
Ask questions about their experience, design process, timeline, and pricing. As mentioned above, you can schedule a free discovery session with us to discuss a project tailored to your needs.
Make sure you are comfortable with the website designer’s communication style and how quickly they respond to emails and other inquiries. Within our studio, we communicate through video calls, emails, and Loom video presentations. If we’re local to each other (we’re based in Portland, Oregon!) we can even meet up to discuss your project updates.
You can learn more about what it’s like to work with a Showit website designer through their past client testimonials. After each project, we ask our clients for feedback on their experience so that we can learn what’s working and what we can improve on. Then, we try to share those testimonials on our social media and website so that we can give you a glimpse of what it would be like to work together!
Talk to the website designer about the specific design elements you are looking for and ask for examples of how they can achieve your desired outcome. This can be good to discuss if you know you need certain implementations on your website, such as a lead magnet through Flodesk, a contact form synced to Honeybook or Dubsado, or a custom blog design.
Truth be told, most Showit website designers love Showit because it allows us to create a website that’s customized to your strategy, but that can be easily updated. Most Showit website designers don’t retain ownership of your domain – and note that your domain won’t actually be in Showit, it will be hosted by a host like GoDaddy or Google Domains. We don’t retain ownership of your domain, but it is worth asking your potential designer about.
You want to make sure that you’ll have ownership of your domain so that you can make necessary updates and, if needed, even switch platforms.
If you’re not a super tech-savvy person, or you simply aren’t interested in maintaining your own site, make sure your website designer is willing to provide ongoing support and maintenance after the website is launched.
We offer monthly retainers or hourly updates so that you’re not left hanging when you inevitably need website updates. However, we design websites that will be easy for you to update later, so most clients don’t need to reach back out for months or years.
Do we offer payment plans? Of course! We never require a 100% payment upfront. For our website intensives, we require all payments to be made prior to the intensive, but we can span those out as long as necessary to ensure you’re comfortable with your website investment. Some Showit website designers don’t offer payment plans, so be sure to ask and pick a plan that works for you and your budget.
