So you’ve decided your website needs real, professional words on it…not just placeholder text you’ve been meaning to fix since 2023. Smart move! But “website copywriting agency” is a broad search, and not every agency that shows up is going to be the right fit, especially if your business lives in a niche as specific (and as visual) as weddings.
Here’s what we think matters most when you’re choosing one, from a team that does this for a living.
A good website copywriting agency knows SEO. A great one doesn’t let SEO ruin the writing. If a copywriter’s first move is stuffing your homepage with keywords instead of figuring out how to talk to your ideal client (with the SEO keywords incorporated naturally) that’s a red flag. The words on your site need to sound like you, rather than a robot trying to please Google.

This is a big one. A copywriter who’s never worked with a wedding professional is going to write generic copy: “your dream day,” “seamless experience,” the usual. If you’re a wedding planner, photographer, or venue owner, you need someone who already knows how your clients search, what makes them trust a vendor, and why your work is fundamentally different from, say, a dentist’s website. Which sounds funny and ridiculous in comparison, but the point is: find someone (like us) who specializes in the wedding and creative-business space specifically. That insider knowledge is more valuable than you think.
SEO for wedding planners looks different than SEO for most small businesses. Your ideal client is usually searching by location and vibe (think something along the lines of “Portland micro-wedding planner,” than “event planner near me”), and they’re making a decision based on trust as much as keywords. A copywriting agency that treats every client’s SEO strategy the same way probably isn’t digging into what your specific audience is actually typing into Google.
Copywriting and website design go hand in hand. Copy that isn’t built with the website’s layout in mind tends to fall flat once it’s incorporated into the page design. Look for an agency that can either build your website design for wedding planners in tandem with the copy, or that at least writes with your platform and structure in mind from the start.

This should go without saying, but unfortunately it bears repeating: You shouldn’t have to guess how a project works or what it costs. A trustworthy agency will walk you through their process before you sign anything, and be honest about the scope that your project includes, an estimate for how long it’ll take to complete and implement, and transparent pricing that’s specific to your project. If you want to see what that looks like in practice, learn about our services.
Most wedding professionals we work with didn’t start out planning to hire a copywriter. They wrote their own website copy first, because that’s what you do when you’re building a business from scratch. And that’s a totally reasonable place to start.
But there are a few signs it might be time to bring someone else in. If you’ve rewritten your homepage more than twice and it still doesn’t sound quite right, that’s a sign that maybe it’s time to work with a professional copywriter. Or if you know your website isn’t converting inquiries the way it should, but you can’t pinpoint why, that’s another signal. And if you’re spending hours staring at a blank page trying to describe your own business (which, honestly, in fairness, totally is way harder than it seems like it should be) that’s usually the biggest sign of all. It’s hard to be objective about your own work, we get it.
None of that means your business isn’t doing well. It just means copywriting is its own skill, the same way photography or floral design is, and outsourcing it isn’t a failure, it’s a normal part of growing past the DIY stage. A good website copywriting agency should make that transition feel like a relief.
If you’re a wedding professional weighing your options for a website copywriting agency, the short version is: find someone who knows your industry, writes for real humans, and treats SEO as a tool instead of the whole strategy. We happen to think we check those boxes, so contact us and see how we can support your next project!
