K.S. Gray Photography is owned by Kevin Gray, a lifestyle, wedding, and brand photographer based in Orange County, California. This project was custom branding design, including a custom logo design for a photographer in Orange County. We also designed a custom Showit website.

THE PROBLEM:
Kevin's old website wasn't working well for him. He was attracting a lot of unaligned clients and he felt like the branding and website itself was too masculine for his ideal clients. However, he didn't want his branding to feel too girly or feminine, so we needed to find a proper balance.
OUR SOLUTION:
We made their branding feel like a party! We focused on colors that felt luxurious but fun to cater to clients with a little more budget to spend on decor, and added personality with a hand-drawn logo. Their website was designed in Showit and brought in those fun branded elements through icons and patterns.

After diving into Kevin's brand strategy, we developed a brand that balanced femininity with masculine old-style barber shop vibes. We chose a serif font that felt thin and modern yet sturdy. We chose an accent font that was more masculine than frilly, and body copy that leans modern. For the color palette, we balanced cool-toned lilac and pink with an army style green and (in the name), gray. We also wanted to infuse Kevin's personality and history into the branding. He lives in Southern California and often shoots weddings that are on the beach. We incorporated hand-drawn palm trees and a custom illustrated wave pattern. All of these assets were then used on the custom website.

Custom Showit Website Design

Kevin was already using Showit for his business's website, and we love Showit for our photography clients anyway! We worked within a Website in a Week to build a custom Showit website design for Kevin. The Experience page walks visitors through Kevin's process, from inquiry to engagement session to wedding day. The galleries highlight his work in a way that feels modern and elevated from his old design. One of our favorite details of the website is a clever 404 Error page in which we referenced Kevin's favorite artist, U2. He's been to more than 50 U2 concerts, so the reference "You still haven't found what you're looking for!" was a fun, personalized detail for Kevin.
